@Discostew:

Sience you messed with the sound there is no crackling anymore but it seems you introduced new problems like certain sound effects don't or play incorrectly. You can probably notice this best in Super Metroid if you fully charged the beam. It sounds like there are samples missing or something like that. Would be great if you could fix these new issues too.

Is this on an o3DS? If so (and not on an n3DS if someone can test that out), then it may have something to do with the increased amount of processing the system has to do with audio, since adding gaussian interpolation, noise, and echoing isn't exactly free. SPC processing may be done on the main CPU core, but processing of the current DSP settings into audio is done on the 2nd core. The 2nd core on an o3DS is shared with the system's OS, and isn't exactly reliable.

I'm currently working on others things atm with the emulator, but I'll take a look at what you reported and see if there's something I can do about it.

@Discostew

I'm pretty sure he's on an o3ds, I'm on it too and I getthe sound artifacts on every game, regardless of title. It's really not too much of an issue, sometimes a sound will hang for an extra second.

Also new Secret of Mana bug - just got Flammie, but once I rise to the world map the map itself is constantly glitching back and forth. The directions on the top of the screen stay the same. Happens in either Hardware of Software mode. If you press L to change to above view while flying the problem disappears. Pretty difficult to navigate around like that, it's potentially game breaking!

That's a known bug that even snes9x used to have. I believe it had something to do with hdma timing. I don't recall what snes9x did to fix it (whether by hack or legitimate fix), but they used to have people manually assign the timing from the command line when launching the emulator on Windows to work around it. StapleButter insists on no hacks to get around issues like these.

Hey, I know it's a longshot, but is there any emulation for the cx4 chip in the works? I'd kill for Megaman X 2/3 on 3ds

Not to my knowledge, but you'll hear about it if something does crop up.

Anyone have this problem ? In Zelda: A Link to the past if I use the dash function some elements of the game get screwed up: enemies disappear, objects change position. Any solution for this? I use blargSNES 1.2.

This is a known issue that I believe has plagued blargSNES since the beginning.

I actually signed up, just to see if anyone has a fix for this...I boot up Bahamut Lagoon and all I get is the music test. Works on my pc but music test only for blargSNES. Anyone know how to get past this? blargSNES 1.2 on N3DS newest ironhax.

Not all games work with blargSNES. Some attempt to go through, but mess up in some form.

For people wondering why blargSNES doesn't seem to work with HomeMenuHax and various others, the word on the street is that it locks up due to the 2nd core not being initialized, as blargSNES is one of the few apps that utilizes it. HomeMenuHax and others like it do not initialize the 2nd core for app use. Thankfully, until this is fixed (which is not on blargSNES's end), you can initialize it yourself by running an existing app, like the Music Player. Here are the steps to get it working through HomeMenuHax.

- Boot system as normal (no loading of HomeMenuHax just yet)
- Launch the Music Player app (this app will initialize the 2nd core)
- After it is loaded, press the power button once to be notified the software was closed.
- Press the Home button to return to the Home Menu
- Hold L as it is loading back the Home Menu to launch HomeMenuHax
- Go about your business from there

Tubehax and oothax worrks fine

Those exploits work because they are strung into an already loaded game/app.

Just to let everyone know, this issue will be fixed when ***hax 2.5 is released (as said by smealum on the github issues page of homemenuhax).

My tinkered version that is using the most recent ctrulib (not currently available on gitHub) seems to be working fine with *hax 2.5, sleep mode and all. Won't include the stuff I was tinkering with, but when I have the time, I'll see about updating the gitHub.

I don't recall making and posting any builds.

Any ETA on the next build? Thx guys :)

No ETA ATM, but there are things in the works. But be aware, it's the holidays, and RL things have priority. You understand.

on my old 3ds with HomeMenùHax v2.1 when I try to open the emulator it displays a black screen
and nothing appears

Have you used the emulator as a prior version before? You may have to delete the ini file for blargSNES on the root directory. When in doubt, start with a clean slate.

Is there any way to change the controls? I'm more used to the GBA versions of SNES titles, for example I'd like to have R as spinjump rather than the default A in SMW. If not, any plans to add this or any way I can do this myself (keeping in mind I don't know any programming stuff)?

As of this moment, there are no plans for remapping, mainly because the control layout of the 3DS is so extremely close to the SNES. Yes, the face buttons aren't skewed like they are on an SNES controller, but it's close enough.

Boy, it sure would be nice if we could have games like F-Zero running at 60fps on an o3DS, wouldn't it?

We've already got a push request that incorporates the newest ctrulib (from fincs). We just haven't committed it yet.

Any news on 1.4 or whatever? I just want to play A Link to the Past, haha.

Thanks for this emulator, it's awesome

I don't work on the emulation/timing side of development, so I couldn't tell you anything regarding that, but there are a few things I've been working on, like various graphical/audio fixes. When is 1.4 being released? There is no ETA as of yet.

Here's an unofficial build for those who need it as .cia : http://www.mediafire.com/download/nc8zuufcl08yacf/blargSnesCia.cia

It's compiled from veryhard branch with latest ctrulib.

As a reminder to everyone. While you can choose to use unofficial builds, do not expect any help with them if you run into problems.

@Discostew : I won't support this unofficial build aswell. It's just a temporary way to get blargSnes via cia for CFW users till we get an updated blargSnes version.

@Weicixiable : Thanks. Glad that it helps someone here. I had hard time figuring out the registers used in gpu because I never worked with the gpu service, but everything fine for now.

You should have looked at the pull requests before doing it yourself, as fincs literally did the job already. We just haven't committed to it yet (but we will, as the things I've been working on are based on it).

It doesn't matter as long as everything works. I usually use framebuffers for graphics. I will have to learn how to use gpu, so I can work on something a bit more advanced.

Always good to learn. I didn't know much about the 3DS hardware when I first started tinkering around blargSNES.

If I may ask, how did you make the CIA file, and what did you use for it? I'm attempting to do it myself with the files that have been supplied in the CCI folder, but I keep getting an error. The makerom I used is from the 3dbrew site

arm-none-eabi-strip blargSnes.elf
makerom -f cia -o blargSnes.cia -rsf cci\cia.rsf -target t -exefslogo -elf blargSnes.elf -icon cci\icon.bin -banner cci\banner.bin

[RSF ERROR] Unrecognised Key: 'ExeFs'

Well, got it working with the old one by trimming out the ExeFs and PlainRegion sections of the cia.rsf file. Result is quite a bit smaller than the 3dsx. Installs on my emuNAND, but there's no audio. I didn't have the system report if NDSP is enabled or not, so I'll examine it now. It works as a 3dsx though.

And to those wondering, I recently pushed my changes.

edit:

Seems under my emuNAND and running the CIA, NDSP doesn't turn on.

Ah, so it only checks for a binary or "hb:dsp", the latter only available via the hax. Guess I'll need to dump the binary.

As a note for those wanting to build a new cia, it still has a problem when suspending to the home menu and re-entering the application. I'll see what I can do about that.
