Has there been any progress on this?

If I could get my hands on a good GPU example, I would update my Tappy Plane port. It already has shaders written in GLSL and HLSL; I just don't know anything about PICA200 or how to really control it. So currently, Tappy Plane is a playable game of white squares and triangles.

I saw the "textured_cube" in ctrulib, but I couldn't get it working due to picasso compilation issues on my Mac. I might just try nihstro (seems to be more homebrew newbie friendly), but it would be great if we could get some basic examples using it and further on down the road removing the dependency on Boost if possible.

Thoughts?

neobrain,

That makes sense.

I think in the meantime, before learning the internals of PICA200, I am just going to be using the sf2dlib library for porting my less complex games.

Whenever I am ready to move towards full GPU-involved work, I will definitely check out the latest and greatest from nihstro.

Until then, I look forward to seeing how it evolves!

In the distant future, living conditions on Earth are rapidly declining. With not much time left, your team has been tasked with leading an expedition to find a new home. After finding what appeared to be a suitable planet, its inhabitants are now pursuing your star cruiser on the trip home. For now we will call them the Insectoids, a violent alien race. Waves of them are approaching from all directions, and the only way to defend the ship is to deploy your Towers!

An important aspect of Insectoid Defense is using towers both individually and together strategically. Many other Tower Defense games can be broken simply by spamming the “best” Tower for as long as possible, but what you will find here is a much more fulfilling and challenging experience.

Features:

7 Towers with upgrades
13 Enemy types
10 Levels
3 Difficulty Modes
Play up to 3x speed
Infinite Gameplay!

If you have been searching for a fresh Tower Defense experience on 3DS, then look no further!

Insectoid Defense is also available for Android, iOS, Windows Phone 8.

Thanks goes to everyone at 3DBrew for their awesome work, making all of this fun homebrew stuff possible!
